It's 2020, but We're Living in COVID-19 // Photo Diary Entry no. 3

If this year has made you feel bloblike, 100% go confer with the people who remind you of the anti-Jell-o version of yourself you like the most.

Have bad days. Full stop. I’ve totally disappeared from social media (and socializing in general) when stressful times have come along. I’ve also given myself not one but three especially chilling haircuts in quarantine. So do what you gotta do.

But the shadows are no place to make a home forever. And it’s so important we that we keep checking in with the people we love because, baby, they’re cheering for us. With that, I’m about to show you a couple people who have been unwavering creative cheerleaders.

When the isolation blahs set in, these people urged me to make things just for me. One morning, I unexpectedly received the gift of Creative Calling in my inbox (check it out. We love Chase Jarvis and I bet you will too). Without a doubt, my idea to give people visual vignettes of their own unique 2020 in front of their homes (the gall!) is a departure from the norm of professional photography, and yet these people have regularly checked in on the project’s progress with enthusiasm.

They were kind enough to participate, although the condition was that we kept it real real. As you can see, I legitimately caught them on their way to take the boss of the house— are you seeing his sweater vest? It screams of confidence I can only aspire to.

[Insert here your friendly reminder to tap into the real power of standing up, walking out the door, and just being anywhere but in your house throughout the day]

I like to believe there are a whole host of gifts we become the beneficiary of when we expose our stardusty bodies (97%, but nbd) to celestial bodies like the sun, the moon, the aliens disguised as our neighborly mailpeople...

Lest I lose you in the weeds, all this is to say: I’m glad I haven’t let this passion project go. I am beyond blessed I was able to rack up multiple benefits from getting outside, getting artsy, and giving these faces a truly beautiful snapshot from this crazy year.

Hope you’re with me in staying weird and wild out here.

xx, Deanna
